DD Free Dish is India's only free-to-air (FTA) DTH satellite television service, operated by Prasar Bharati (Doordarshan). Unlike paid DTH platforms, DD Free Dish requires no monthly subscription — you pay once for the set-top box and dish, and enjoy hundreds of channels for free.

How LCN Works on DD Free Dish
The Logical Channel Number (LCN) is the position at which a channel appears when you browse using your remote. Prasar Bharati allocates LCNs through a bidding/e-auction process for private broadcasters. Doordarshan's own channels are assigned fixed LCNs and are not auctioned.

How to Update Your Channel List
- Press the Menu button on your remote.
- Navigate to Installation → Auto Scan or Channel Search.
- Select FTA Only and start the scan.
- Wait for the scan to complete — this may take 3–10 minutes.
- Channels will be updated with the latest LCN order.
Tip: After every Prasar Bharati e-auction, LCN positions of private channels may change. Always do a fresh auto-scan to get the latest channel order.

- DD Free Dish uses the MPEG-4 standard — make sure your STB supports it.
- The satellite used is GSAT-15 at 93.5°E.
